I broke my plastic fork while listening to this...ANYWAYS
hey nice song you got there. Has me thinkin bout a few things. have you ever considered trying something super heavy and thrashy? Like uhh death metal or something idk. As for the song itself, The way you do drums is interesting to me but I suck at drums so I ain't saying much. the flute stood out for me in this song I liked that the most. Wasn't a fan of the bell but otherwise very solid song.

crispybatteryacid responds:

Thanks for the review dude. Hardcore shit/metal was never my thing, but it has some distinct characteristics that I like to include in some of my stuff, like an electric guitar or something. A lot of my work is inspired by a composer by the name of DM Dokuro, who also does something like that.

As for the drums, I play the them myself so it comes a bit easier to me. What did you find interesting about them? I'm curious now lol

That melody that happens at 0:47 (and through various other parts of the song) is so great I love that. I'm having trouble understanding how this song wasn't working at first cuz it sounds so interesting. I know this doesn't resemble Aphex Twin hardly at all but The grittyness of the beat in this song is actually why I love Aphex Twin so much and you put all the right stuff into this. My favorite from you thus far.

MrBurritoBoi responds:

Thanks man this one's my favorite too
The fourth bar did a chromatic thing with the guitar and it was hugely inspired by my first song near the end, and to be fair the entire song sounded horrible until I added the pads which covered up the angry guitar sounds that became a textural thing

I don't know why but it makes me think of some sort of cutscene from a Mario game like I imagine a bunch of the characters doin sumthin er other at the castle and it's just nice and peaceful. Maybe it's the lead or the drums or something. Either way good vibes all around.

octopus58 responds:

Thank you so much! It's meant to feel a bit nostalgic and party ish so I think what you imagine really fits haha
Thank you for listening to my music :D

You should come back to this when you can. It has a sort of charm to it and some interesting sounds. But was sort of repetitive towards the end and some sounds were too loud for me. That being said. I did enjoy this a bit.

Enderb0t77 responds:

Okay, I will try when I get power back. Also, this song was made as something to keep me busy during a hurricane, making it my first song made purely for fun. I had no plan, I did things as they came to me. Also, I can’t really add on that much to it. This is the most sounds I can have at once. Have a good day.

Wow the buildup that starts at 1:12 is actually amazing i loved that!

LodeRunner13 responds:

Thanks a lot! Great to hear you liked it.

This straight up sounds like something I'd hear randomly pop up on my Pandora radio. Loved how chill it was.

crispybatteryacid responds:

Idk what a pandora radio is but it sounds fire so thanks lol

I think this has a lovely beat. Could do with more instruments and variety. Reminded me of cat bird that sound did!

GDRhythmic responds:

Yeah, this is pretty old. I'm still reuploading all of my music to newgrounds rn. I'm a lot better now 😅 (I got scouted today so I think my new stuff should be able to go up a lot faster now)

Was just about to head off of Newgrounds For the day and this pops up. That ending was just wonderful. Other than that, I think the vocal parts are my favorite part because of how much they carry those areas of the song. Left me wanting more. Good job keeping the instruments consistent throughout your songs by the way. Dunno if I could do that.

crispybatteryacid responds:

Appreciate it man!

edit: @Marscael there were supposed to be drums, forgot to turn em on lol

This one made me curious about the animation (RIP Grandma). My favorite part of the song starts at 1:16. I particularly like the tapping sound. The song was nice and consistent the whole time which sometimes is just exactly what a song needs. My favorite of the soundtracks I'd say.

octopus58 responds:

Thank you so much for the detailed and kind words! I felt establishing a constant rhythm with the tapping would be calming, so I'm glad you like it :)

Chill vibes. Sounds like it could be great for listening to in the background while exploring in a game like on a mountain or in a cave or something.
If I were to say one thing maybe the sound that starts at 1:10 is a little loud. But the little buggy sound that plays right after it every time is actually my favorite part.

crispybatteryacid responds:

thank you! i just made a square wave in sytrus mixed with a sine wave and used gross beat for the glitchy sound. synths are cool

also bro, i can't fuckin wait till you get a pc your stuff is gonna be so fire

I am learning how to make music. I started learning early 2024. I'm so new to making music I honestly don't know at all of what to expect, but I've been having so much fun these past few months.
